What did I learn?

life coach

One of the hardest parts about graduating is applying all that you've learned and taking the initiative to create your own path. I get the opportunity to look beyond the challenges our students face, remind them that they have a purpose, and provide the intangible and tangibles tools to begin the path to individual success.

student success coach

I had the opportunity of running an after school program, leading a team of mentors and coaching 43 high school students to develop into the people they hope to be with the non-profit, Firewall Centers. My students reminded me to find joy in everything and that words are some of the most powerful resources we obtain

Academic counselor

After 10 long years I decided it was time to return to my home, South Florida. I was awarded an amazing opportunity to support with Smart Horizons Career Online High School. My adult students inspired me every single day with their personal stories and they also taught me grace, perseverance, and the true meaning of triumph

Academic coach

I started coaching a couple of weeks after graduating with my masters degree. I was more than ready to be in the real world and encourage students the way I needed encouragement. But it presented more challenges that I expected. My students taught me to be intentional, forgiving, and patient

School coUNSELOR INTERN

I closed out of my last year of graduate school with Maclay Schools. In this role I supported pre-kindergarten to high school freshmen and I was able to see how social/emotional experiences transcend over time. I learned to empathize, problem solve, and support students with learning disabilities.

outpatient intern

I entered my counseling program with a very basic understanding of mental health. However, my understanding grew when I got the opportunity to support, adapt, and listen intently to people who suffered with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and PTSD.

Senior americorps member

From January 2016 and June 2017 I got to work one on one with students who had to persevere through circumstances they did not create nor control with City Year Jacksonville. I learned to keep an open mind, an open heart, and to focus on what I can do.

orientation leader

In 2013 I learned the power of my words and my presence. I had the privilege of representing my university and that summer my perception of reality changed for the better. I also got the opportunity to build long lasting relationships with my students and peers.
